KING KAMAL
@kingkamalhiphop
KING KAMAL started writing poetry and creating
beats on two-tape recorders. Inspired by several legendary acts including
A Tribe Called Quest, NWA and Ice Cube. Growing up in Chicago, he
appreciated both east and west coast hip hop. Classical, house, gospel and
seventies music were also major influences. He battle-rhymed on street
corners, subway trains, school lunch rooms and in barber shops for free
haircuts. During one of these barber shop battles he met his mentor, the
legendary Dug Infinite.
Through his music, KING sought to escape the inner city madness that
carried on outside his bedroom window. As a poet, producer and
songwriter, his lyrics convey an uncommon depth with distinct music
sensibilities. His ear for sound and vocal distinction blends into harmonious
works of art. His music also represents human frailty which resonates with
many. His talent led him to win a Billboard music award for Songwriter Of
The Year for “Ghetto Sunrise”. He also landed in the Billboard Top 20 for
“Life” (Mind & Soul). As these were jazz projects, this reflects King’s
versatility within the music industry.
KING KAMAL has executive produced his own music and projects. He
also has collaborated with many artists and producers. Notable
collaborations include “All Night” with Daz Dillinger in 2018
and “Pull Up and Stunt” with The Game in 2021. The latter reached GOLD on the Spotify charts, earning him a plaque.
KING executive produced and performed on several collaborative projects in 2023. In 2024, he released several more solo projects including June 10th:King and The Paul Album. In January 2025, King released an incredible album titled Heart Of A King , followed by the EP, Full Circle in July of that year.
In January 2026, King released The Path Chose. This album was the first installment in a special trilogy series. He followed this by releasing the second album, Theme Music in March 2026. On his born day, June 10th of the same year he released the final installment in the series titled, Levitation. This album is his most personal and favorite album to date. As a true creative he has a massive catalog of high quality music for all listeners to delve into with songs that truly inspire and resonate.
